1969 SE5 Alfa V6 conversion: My LSD trip.

Hi, The preload on the differential case bearings is achieved by fitting shims under the bearings to give the required preload (I think the IRS units achieve preload by attaching the output shafts to the diff casing so don't need these shims) Once you have the correct preload, you can then swap shim...

I have a loose gearstick and a bolt and can see these go into the change yoke but the bolt is loose should there be a bush or ...

High Torque Starter motor

The ones in the link are also gear reduction starter motors (like the WOSP) but use sun and planet gears for the reduction so the motor is inline with the gear

I've never used one on a V6 but have a similar one on a Pinto and it works well

Se5a Rolling rejuvenation project

Hi,

If you are going to the trouble of round lights, I would put the indicator on the outside, where it is more obvious to following traffic
Also, if you had bigger round lights, would 3 of them look better on your plan C pic?

Thanks

Steering column nut

Are you sure it's not the same as a Triumph steering column nut? e.g. Herald, Spitfire, TR4, TR5, etc I can't find anything to say what thread they are, but lots of comments about being a very fine thread, and the picture looks very similar Available for £4.50 from Rimmer Bros https://www.rimmerbros...

Re: Photobucket

Re: rotors se5a

Mintex pads are MGB522
I use 1155 compound on my SE5a for rallies, but I would agree 1144 is fine for normal road use

The same Girling 3 pot calipers were also used on Aston Martin V8's up to around 1982 !

Thanks

Re: GavinR's Se5a Project

After the problems scooping in mud on the Leukaemia, I thought it was time to remove the scoop and put the front back to how it should be - although it's still galvanised sheet Also, to make sure all the air goes through the radiator, I added another sheet to join the front valance to the steel unde...

Re: GavinR's Se5a Project

Kemble Targa Rally - 11th June 2017 This was a new event run by Bath Motor Club at Kemble Airfield near Cirencester. The airfield is still used commercially, but there is a corner which can be used for motorsport. I usually do Targa Rallies in my Escort, but as the Escort is being rebuilt I decided...

Re: Mikey Bikeys LPG, Fully Disked up, Se5a

I cut a slice out of the drum back plate to accommodate the caliper piston and redrilled to move the back plate around to put the caliper about 11 o clock. This suits the handbrake well although bleeding is a phaff as i take the caliper off to ensure the bleed nipple is at the most top to allow the...
