Petrol tank

Off topic, my first van was an 1987 ex Police Sherpa V8 - two rows of seats and the rear kitted out with racks for tyres, spares and tools
Two Stromberg carbs, a manual gearbox and a 120 litre tank - fully loaded it could tow my rally car at whatever speed you wanted to and would do 15mpg :)

KVL SE5 Project

My next job was to drain the radiator and remove the hoses - even though the expansion tank had some water in it, all the hoses crunched when squeezed  A lot of "water" came out of the system, but it didn't smell like any antifreeze I had come across before, and wasn't blue either Most of the...

suspension issues

The spring may be the same length under full car loading, but raising the spring seat on an adjustable seat damper can result in the spring being preloaded (precompressed) when the wheels are off the ground and the damper is at full extension This increases the ride height as the weight of the car h...

HRCR East Anglian Classic Rally, June 2019

Yes - last year all the Tests were at Thorpe Abbotts, 3 layouts done 3 times and we prefer some variety!

Well done Chris and Brendan, good write up and I'm glad to see the organisers managed to secure some other Test venues for this year's event :)

Thanks Jim - I'll make both sides match So after a couple of evenings of hammering in all directions, the slave cylinder came out in various pieces! The sockets and threaded rod were to extract the remains from the bellhousing http://media2.turbosport.co.uk/2013/11/201908042147120228520190721_192740...

Not sure about having to enlarge the wheel holes have not tried them on yet...the scimitar steel wheel nuts are too big...its only that i want the twintub wheel centres on otherwise any 1/2 nut would do
They bolted straight onto the 1/2" wheel studs on my SE5a

KVL SE5 Project

I saw this one come up for sale in May and thought about it for a while, before contacting the owner (Mike) in early July and going to have a look - being only 30 mins from where I live, it seemed a good opportunity It was as described, a SE5 project with a galvanised chassis and a stainless exahust...

Se 5A Exhaust

Hi, one and all, can anyone tell me the inlet and outlet angle of the Rear silencer box assembly. This may be trivial to some, but I need to have the exhaust system made here in Spain, which is cheaper than purchasing and shipping one from the UK. Hi, I made one last year using universal exhaust pa...

Speedometer gearing

Hi David,

Reading your explanation - yes I had forgotten the rolling radius of the tyre

I agree with your calculations so the 960tpm speedo must be the correct one

Thanks

Speedometer gearing

Hm, the gearbox speedo driven and drive gears are 21 teeth and 7 teeth so nearly the same as the diff (3.583 to 1), sort of equalising each other. I'm going to let you do the maths, not had enough coffee yet!☹️ So the speedo drive ratio is 3.0 and the axle is 3.583 which gives 837tpm (3 / 3.583 * 1...
