Too Much Work

This might not apply if all of your indicators on the kerb crawling side were not working, but if you have trouble with the front ones only, then tell the arresting officer the following: SS1s can get water inside the indicator unit which corrodes the terminals. They can be stripped down to individu...

I've got a bit left over!

Keep it in the boot or glove box and drive around with it there for a few years to see if you ever need it, then you can throw it away.

Gathering Info.

Don't ask for anything in Halfords apart from the time, as the staff won't know. Know your specs then read the labels. Use the old style 'Ethylene Glycol' Coolant, (its the blue stuff). If it doesn't say whats in it on the front of the bottle, read the blurb on the back and look for the content bein...

SPAX or AVO or Gaz or Protech?

Avo's are junk, don't touch them. My used ones failed with fluid leaks so I purchased new ones, then the bushes soon failed on those so I sent them back to have new bushes fitted, to then have one suffer a bad fluid leak due to a seal failure soon after. I removed them and fitted some Gaz units, whi...

Suspension overhaul

Motorbike spring compressors are only suitable for the rear springs, was tired the other night when I replied and I should advise that they are likely to be too small to fit the front sprngs. I removed and refit the front springs via my method mentioned previously, no skid lid used though, just a lo...

Suspension overhaul

Rear shocks and springs easy as described above but use motorbike coil spring compressors to remove springs safely. Font springs easy and safe too without spring compressors,(motorbike spring compressors can be used, but really no need). Support lower wishbone with a jack to take the strain and when...

Resto of Scimitar SS1

New old stock unused soft top on Ebay at the moment (not mine).

QRG are a good alternative source of parts to Graham Walker. Very knowledgable staff and always seem able to source any part. Reliant Parts World have lots of bits too.
