Coolant pooling on top of inlet manifold

Thank you all, some points worth investigating.
I did wonder about the bolts myself...

Coolant pooling on top of inlet manifold

My 1978 SE6a is currently in the garage for head gasket replacement and when the air filter housing was removed it revealed pools of coolant all along the offside of the inlet manifold - all the way from front to back of the engine. The mechanic is investigating the cause (having only just found it ...

window regulator

Great idea peter... Does anyone know if the motor is easy to separate? I can't do welding!

SE6 Electric window regulator

I need a new electric window regulator with motor for the drivers door on a 1978 SE6A. The Rimmer Bros website shows the regulator for the Rover SD1 RH door [part BLP1068] is twice the price of the LH door [BLP1069]. Is there anywhere else I can get the RH one at more reasonable price?

Bumper Rubbers

My bumpers look like that as well. I always assumed a previous owner painted or coated them and the coating is coming off.

Essex head gasket failed?

Also, can anyone give me an estimate of time taken to replace the head gaskets please so I can estimate costs? Will it be more than a day (for a garage that is)?

Essex head gasket failed?

There are exhaust gases in the cooling system so the head gasket is almost certainly on the way out and I am going to bite the bullet and replace the head gaskets and water pump. I would appreciate the benefit of other experience with regard to sourcing the parts - I am not sure if all gaskets are c...

Essex head gasket failed?

Thanks Jim, Mark. I only ever top up at the overflow bottle (since first replacing all coolant in the rad up to level), could this be my problem? I decided it was best to leave the rad cap once I got one that sealed properly as it took a few attempts to get it working properly. I guess I too had re...

Essex head gasket failed?

Thanks all, I've been through every part of the cooling system over the past 5+ years, I am confident the thermostat cap is good Peter (replaced more than once with dealer supplied replacements until got a good seal and working well). By header tank I am referring to the plastic overflow bottle on t...

Essex head gasket failed?

I've been losing small quantities of coolant on every journey for a few years now and replaced the entire cooling system one bit at a time, then had it tested (pressure/ gas emissions) for head gasket failure but the garage said all was fine. Yesterday I did a 120 mile round trip and at the end I ob...

inner 5 3/4" headlamp replacement

Thanks for the reply Peter, I did buy two but was only going to replace one today and save the other for when that sealed unit blows... based on your feedback I will check first with the garage if they want me to replace both together.

inner 5 3/4" headlamp replacement

The MOT is now overdue for my SE6a... I discovered the offside inner (5 3/4") headlight failed, and on investigating found a sealed unit so had to cancel the MOT. I have bought a new light and halogen bulb from Graham Walker (apparently a direct replacement). However the bulb is a "halogen 448" with...
