4 Speed O/D conversion to automatic (SE5a)

Hi - I can see that a popular choice is to swap the auto gearbox for a 4 speed manual with overdrive. Has anyone on here gone the reverse route? Just wondering how difficult/practical it is. I am finding the the pedal box very small fro my size 10's. That, a stiff clutch and no power steering are ma...

SE5a Propshaft with slip joint - which way round?

Thanks again Phil. On my car the gearbox flange has some additional redundant holes. The rear axle flange has only four. On my prop both ends have the same flange - so it could be fitted both ways. I have installed it with the slip joint nearest to the gearbox.

SE5a Propshaft with slip joint - which way round?

Hi - I have just refitted my prop-shaft after an engine re-assembly. Does it only fit one way round? It has a slip joint closer to one end. I guess that should be nearest to the gearbox? Is that correct?

Thanks for any feedback,

Jim

SE5a - the roller coaster ride continues

Thanks for the suggestion Andy. I think I used the correct hose. Its marked BSAU 110A/A J1402/A 10 x 19 AIR/ BRAKE. I used standard jubilee clips to secure it.

Is the Dorset Noggin active?

Hi - I did receive some information about a potential meet up in May/June but no details confirmed. Is the Noggin alive?

Are there other Scimitar owners in Dorset/Hampshire?

Regards, Jim

SE5a - the roller coaster ride continues

Update: I have cleaned out the filter and the carb. There did not appear to be much visible "debris" in either the filter or the float bowl. To overcome any potential vapour lock issues, I have fitted the correct thick gasket to the fuel pump. I have also removed the inline fuel filter and rerouted ...

SE5a - the roller coaster ride continues

Once I get the car running again, I will look into an electric fuel pump.

SE5a - the roller coaster ride continues

Thanks for the quick feedback. I can see how a thin gasket may have caused more heat transfer to the pump. I am trying to get a handle on why the car wont run properly now after the car has cooled down. It could have been low fuel but the warning light did not illuminate. Also would any "crap" from ...

SE5a - the roller coaster ride continues

There is no spacer between the pump and block - just a thin gasket.

SE5a - the roller coaster ride continues

I drove the car to Bristol on Saturday morning from Dorchester. The first run in ~3 months. The car went great - smooth, fast & fun. Tickover was stable and reliable. I was back in love with it... On Sunday morning, on the way back, I got stuck in some roadwork traffic for ~15 mins. Up till then (60...

Car turns over but wont start (No spark)

Thanks for the feedback, Jim, Phil & Roger. I bought a new Powerspark module and new ballasted coil (DLB110). I exchanged the ignition module but kept the original coil. The car started straight away and ran fine. I don't know if the car has been modified or the ballast bypassed but the car seems to...

Car turns over but wont start (No spark)

The coil has 3.2 ohms across the primary and 10.6 thousand ohms across the secondary connection. Assuming the coil may be at fault, the simple solution may be to install a new coil. There is no identifying marks on the coil. Should I go for a 12V non ballasted coil suitable for electronic ignition. ...
