Quarter Light ring

Yes that should work beautifully, cast in plaster? - If you have a more or less complete original to make the mould with. Good idea.

Quarter Light ring

Yes that might be the best way forward, - have seen the posts regarding casting one in pewter and etc. Looking at it I wonder if a piece of aluminium or similar could be coaxed into the right shape and suitably drilled. Yes do keep me posted if you make any progress.

Quarter Light ring

I need a new right hand quarter light ring for my SE5a, ie the swivel bit on the Q.L. itself into which the pin on the door frame sits. So I was wondering if anyone has one, or if anyone is now manufacturing this part, or if anyone has a damaged or corroded quarter light with a decent ring I could r...

Yes that's right - the passenger door itself with the lower hinge fixing point still integral and strong. Never mind, one will turn up I'm sure. Thanks anyway. - Anyone out there got one for a SE5a?

FREE 5a body

Have now established that the door plate is indeed originally bedded in the fibreglass of the door itself, and the hinge pins are attached to this plate, and the plate is entirely separated from the door! This looks like a pretty grim job to do, as in order to re-attach the plate with fibreglass I'd...

FREE 5a body

Thank you, I've worked out now that the pins go into the door (rather than the other way round) which means I'll have to have a closer look at exactly what the problem is with mine, still suspect my pins have sheared off and may just have stumps in a corroded door brace - but if you could have a loo...

FREE 5a body

Thanks for the swift reply. So would you say the stumps of the hinges could be separated from the pins or are they well corroded/ seized? And does the door still have the glass and frame, quarter-light, window motor and etc all still attached? And of course what would you like for it? ( My existing ...

Do you happen to still have the passenger door, and if so are the bottom hinge pins and door hinge bracing still attached ?

Roof Rack for SE5a

Ah yes found it now under 'Rover' (lateral thinking duly applied) - Thule Foot-pack 951, with an MGB owner saying it works a treat, - only trouble is it looks like all the weight is on the gutters, but maybe also on the slope of the roof - so not sure...May risk it and report back.

Roof Rack for SE5a

Thanks for that, but I can't seem to find a Morris Marina listed (or any Morris for that matter) on the Thule website (they don't seem to have anything pre- 2001) - sounds promising though in terms of roof line, - wondered also about an MGB or even a Capri as well, but how did you laterally get from...

Roof Rack for SE5a

Yes absolutely - feet would be best - which is why I was thinking of using the Thule ones from Halfords which I've used on other vehicles, and which are incredibly robust - but the trouble is they need a fitting kit to secure them to to the lip of the guttering and prevent movement, (whilst the weig...

Roof Rack for SE5a

I was wondering if anyone had ever fitted Thule roof bars to an SE5a - with the four feet for a standard roof, and if so if they had discovered which of the Thule fitting kits would work on the car? - It's not listed of course on the Thule website, but one of the kits aimed at cars with roof gutters...

Flywheel for SE5a

Thanks Phil, yes it was the metric one, bolt threads stripped on removal and lots of cracks and crazing, must have been slipping for years ! Thanks for the Burton power tip, handy to know, but I managed to get fixed up this morning with a replacement through QRG.
Thanks again,
Billy M

Flywheel for SE5a

Hello everyone. I'm looking for a flywheel for an SE5a I'm trying to get back on the road before the weekend (later gearbox, down left reverse). Graham Walker only have one and it's the earlier type - so I wondered if anyone relatively local to Newbury in Berkshire had a decent one lying around, or ...

hello all

Hello Phil, I was interested to see your post from 2009 as I'm in the process of buying TCH403L, - I haven't collected it yet but I'd be fascinated to know what work you did on the car when you were restoring it, just so I know what's been done and to what extent. Not sure if you re-sprayed the car ...
